It might have been considered exciting to some, to venture to places in the darkness, other realms where things were shrouded in mystery and wonder. It was fun to most, an adventure to be envied, or so it would seem. True, it was interesting to say the least, but not at the peak of the morn: five A.M.!
This morning your bed had turned into an extra dimensional doorway, while you were still resting peacefully within the comforts of pillow and blanket. The ride was a smooth one if not mind-boggling with all the twisting, turning vortexes of color and shape that reflected and refracted from all angles of the gate, a magical myriad of sorts that drew you in and captivated you. Until of course you’d come down to splash into the shallow pool of water, and with much panic you had scrambled to the surface of a nearby crystal island. And then something amazing happened. A blue shape, one with emerald eyes and a dark, royal sapphire body emerged from the depths, a few crystals lodged in its maw that it proceeded to gulp down as if they were a main source of food.
You gasped a bit; if this little one was anything like Aditti, you were sure to run into trouble. Instead though, the Hatchling placidly looked at you from a safe distance, reminding you of something that was shy. The being smiled cutely, her lips curving upwards at the corners and she said nothing. “Iris!” They’re all the same, aren’t they? The squeaky tone was audible from a mile away, let alone from 20 yards off. From that short distance, it was a deafening noise that echoed all through the cavern and inside of your head, a call that could not be ignored. Iris turned her head in the direction of Melody, the water nymph who was to take the blue dragon in as her charge.
“Hello, Melody…” Your own intonation spoke of frustration and irritability, something common in the likes who’d just been woken from a rather refreshing sleep. Regardless, you flashed a playful grin at Iris who proceeded to duck her head into the water, but she still stared up at you through its shifting depths, eyes wide with surprise from your interaction. Ah, Melody had arrived. “She’s bashful, see? She’s fine around Morgan and I, but Iris doesn’t like strangers!” The fae creature giggled a bit, staring at you with shining eyes. Haha, very funny.
