It had been far too long since your last brief meeting with the Fae-creature Mae and her intern Aditti, the purple Glenn Dragon whom you’d watched grow up over the course of a few months. The silence was odd, but then again, you hadn’t visited that hidden place in the forest where the portal opened for only those previously invited inside. But, intuit had always warned you of the appropriate time, and you’d begun to think that it was failing. Just as quickly as the thoughts alighted upon the surface of your ever-contemplating mind, the portal appeared, an ever-undulating vertex of purples and ebon hues with silver splashed in. The portal? Here? It was strange, but it went unquestioned as you calmly stepped through the gateway into virtually another world.
The wispy purple clouds went unnoticed, as well as the soft purple light of the realm itself and the black tapestry which everything was painted against. It was all irrelevant compared to Aditti, the full grown air dragon who stood tall and proud. It was hard to imagine that the creature that had once only reached as high as your knees was now at least three times your height. You hadn’t really noticed before, because all along she’d been growing gradually, but there was a certain finality about her now, and she seemed wise beyond her years. Yet, she was only months old… It was boggling and amazing, intriguing and frightening.
And Mae fluttered with a certain cool calm, beaming at Aditti as if she were her own child. In a way, she was. The Faerie had brought the dragon up from a mere egg, and you’d been here to watch the process all along. Aditti showed that draconic grin that had been seen so many times before, cerulean eyes twinkling with mischief and deliberate intent of some sort. “Hello there!” It was your voice that had rung out in cordial greeting, and the two nodded in acknowledgement of your presence. The story seemed to be coming to a close, but had it really?…
It seemed improbable that there would be more to it, but, was it possible? You didn’t have time to answer the question, for the dragon and Fae-creature had simply disappeared. Gone? No. Great wings could be heard peddling the air, and then the impact of strong claw-like hands gripping you from under the arms. And you seemed to float, carried upwards on the air, up into eternal starlight.
